Overview

This website is a personal website and blog. I respect your privacy and am committed to protecting any data you choose to share.

I don't collect any data you don't explicitly submit, and I don't do any sort of analytics.

I have no interest in collecting, analyzing, selling or doing anything else with your data. I just want to make a cool website, and for a guestbook, I inherently need to store the data you submit.

What Data I Collect

Guestbook Entries

When you sign the guestbook, I collect:

  • Your name (required)

  • Your message (required)

  • Social media links (optional: website, GitHub, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon)

  • The theme you were using when submitting (for display purposes)

  • A unique identifier stored in your browser (for deletion purposes)

  • Timestamp of submission

Analytics & Cookies

This website uses minimal cookies:

  • Theme preference: Stores your selected visual theme (Modern, Retro, Rainbow, Terminal)

  • Guestbook identifier: A randomly generated UUID to allow you to delete your own messages

I do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking services.

How I Use Your Data

Guestbook Data

  • Display your message publicly on the guestbook page

  • Allow other visitors to see your message and optional social links

  • Enable you to delete your message from the same browser

Third-Party Services

Supabase

Guestbook entries are stored in a Supabase database (a PostgreSQL service). Supabase's privacy policy applies to this data: https://supabase.com/privacy

Cloudflare Turnstile

I use Cloudflare Turnstile (an invisible CAPTCHA) to prevent spam. When you submit a guestbook entry, Cloudflare may process:

  • Your IP address

  • Browser information

  • Interaction patterns

Bunny.net CDN

This website is hosted on Bunny.net's Content Delivery Network. They may log:

  • IP addresses

  • Page requests

  • Referrer information

Your Rights

Delete Your Guestbook Entry

You can delete your guestbook message at any time from the same browser you used to submit it. Simply visit the guestbook page and click "Delete my message" on your entry.

Important: This deletion feature only works from the same browser/device where you submitted the message. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, you will need to contact me directly to request deletion.

Request Complete Data Deletion

If you cannot delete your message through the website (e.g., you cleared your browser data), you can contact me to request manual deletion. Please provide:

  • Your name as it appears in the guestbook

  • Date of submission

  • First few words of your message

Data Retention

Guestbook entries are stored indefinitely unless you delete them. I periodically back up guestbook data to ensure it's included in the website build (for faster loading). These backups are updated with each deployment.

Public Nature of Guestbook

  • Personal information you want to keep private

  • Email addresses (unless you want them to be public)

  • Phone numbers

  • Physical addresses

  • Any sensitive information

Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact me so I can remove it.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the guestbook after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
